The Rotary Club of Columbia/Patuxent is proud to support international projects that address real needs and help communities build stronger, healthier and more hopeful futures.
Our international service efforts reflect one of Rotary's greatest strengths: local clubs working together around the world. By partnering with Rotary clubs, community organizations and other trusted groups in the places we serve, we can help ensure projects are locally informed, sustainable and focused on meaningful results.
Our International Projects
Over the years, our club has supported projects addressing a variety of needs. These efforts may include access to clean water and sanitation, health and wellness, education and literacy, economic opportunity, maternal and child health, environmental sustainability and other community priorities.
Some projects involve financial support. Others bring together the resources of multiple Rotary clubs or take advantage of grants available through the Rotary Foundation. Whatever the size of the project, our goal is the same: to work with local partners rather than simply work for them.
Local Partnerships, Global Reach
One of the things that makes Rotary international service different is its worldwide network of volunteers.
When we support a project thousands of miles from Columbia, there may be Rotarians living in or near that community who understand its needs, know the local organizations and can help oversee the work. Those relationships provide valuable local knowledge while creating friendships and connections that can last long after a project is complete.
It is a powerful reminder that our Rotary community extends far beyond Howard County.
Service Without Borders
A project doesn't have to be enormous to make a difference. A new source of clean water, educational materials for a classroom, medical equipment for a clinic or assistance for a community organization can have an impact that continues for years.
For members of the Rotary Club of Columbia/Patuxent, international service is another way we put Service Above Self into action — joining with people around the world to turn generosity, expertise and friendship into meaningful change.
